Passenger Could Not Fly Becuase of Airline’s Mistake

During earlier times, a lot of formalities were handled manually and if errors did occur, they would be corrected with an apologetic note. Now, with the advent of automation, the entire manual work has either come down drastically or there is no manual involvement at all in many areas and every work is fully computerized. Man has started relying so much on these automatons that he gives too much respect to them and even when there are computer-generated errors, he does not want to believe them. Computers are after all man-made and they are as good as the humans who operate them.

We find computer generated errors in almost every walk of life these days. It is very common to come across such errors in credit cards, bank accounts, super markets and there have been computer-generated errors in academic institutions too. There are some authorities who, on request, rectify the error and hence our complaint gets redressed, while in some cases, no amount of pleas or valid proofs can undo the damage. In the instant case, a lady by the name Yarn Harlot Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, could not board her flight because the concerned airline’s computer had bungled with her last name.

No amount of pleading, cajoling and production of documentary evidence on her part and also her travel agent, could convince the airline authorities that she was the bonafide traveler. Ultimately, the lady had to give up all fight and by then it was futile to try any more as there were only seconds left for the departure of the flight. She not only lost the argument, but also her money and had to book her ticket with another airlines altogether. Whoever said “What’s in a name”?
